Bristol born artist Jon J. West was first introduced to his love of endangered and exotic animals from his time working in Bristol Zoo Gardens and the Wild Place Project. The vibrant patterns and colours enticed him to pick up a paintbrush and begin to project his newfound creative inspiration onto canvases and walls.
Influenced by impressionism, street art and wildlife, his technique has evolved into a distinctive bold pixelated style, which has been described as a joyous captivating acrylic mess. He accredits his success to experimentation and enjoying his profession, which has led to his participation in a number of group exhibitions, commissioned projects and a series of solo shows across Bristol.
West is a resident artist at CoExist studios where he continues to innovate his style and develop as an artist, building his brand ‘LickAPaint’ which features a collaborative clothing line which will be launched later in the year.
